ORIGIN OF GARMENTS

 

We purchase garments directly from the manufacturers of high street, department store and high end brands; these garments are usually first quality over-makes or surplus stock.

Over-makes or surplus stock are extra stock that have been produced for the brand which had made the order, just in case there may have been problems with the original order or the demand increased – basically ensuring that neither the manufacturers or the brand are left short in any scenario.  

If the brand decides that they do not need the extra back-up stock, this stock is then usually available for the manufacturers to do what they like with, and they often sell them on at a discounted rate to wholesalers, such as us, which in turn allows us to offer heavy discounts to our customers. 

 

 

 

THE GARMENTS

 

The majority of the clothing we have is formal menswear, with high end brands such as Hackett and Gieves & Hawkes, and high street or department store brands such as Jack Wills and Reiss. We also have some selected womenswear in stock.

Our high end menswear is quite special: we were one of the few to have managed to obtain the last of the stock that was made entirely within the UK, before the manufacturer relocated their factories abroad – currently their garments are mostly made abroad, but finished in the UK, which allows them to retain the “Made in England” inner label.

We were selling on a much larger scale a few years ago than we currently do now, and so are not purchasing new stock at the moment; we are in the process of selling the last of what we have from prior wholesale purchases from manufacturers such as Wensum and Rice2, who specialised in high end (such as Hackett, Gieves & Hawkes, Ede & Ravenscroft, Bladen, etc) and department store (such as Red Herring, Jack Wills, Reiss, etc) menswear, particularly formalwear such as suits, blazer jackets, waistcoats and trousers. Depending on the circumstances we may be able to continue the business and bring new stock in, or we may just wind down the eBay store completely once all stock is sold.
